BA HUMBUG!

Y'all I know you have people coming at you from every dang angel about gift guides, buying this, hosting gifts that sooo... Let's change it up in this house!! Although, I will share books but that is about it because I ALWAYS buy the girls new books!
I have come up with my Operations "not so ba humbug" giving back guide to the holidays! I mainly did this so that I can start something with my kids (while also understanding that we don't have AS many volunteer opp's as a big city, had to get creative here!) Read along with our operation plans to teach my girly pops the true meaning of the holidays, giving back and connecting, and no, not more barbies like my four year old thinks!
If you subscribe to the newsletters, you know that I have been doing Christmas BINGO with my girls and checking items off (while I had planned to start in December, we have already been doing some, so I just went ahead and printed it instead of waiting to start) They have been having a lot of fun picking something off the list and then adding a sticker as we finish!

Some other things that we have done:
Gotten then to pick a family from our local ATB Branch that needs a little help this christmas and then pick out the items that they need
Participated in a PJ drive - they picked our jammies that our local centre needed for their residents and dropped off at the donation centre
Donated our gently used books to our local domestic shelter for woman and children
participated in our local turkey race (donate a turkey to a family locally in need)
Ideas that I am still working on:
Food bank Volunteering (working on places we can go locally)
Seniors stocking / visiting with the girls (we went at halloween and I told myself that we would work more on this)
Fill a bus at our local high school
Operation Red Nose (this might be harder with kids, used to do it before being a driver so we will see!)
I know there is LOTS more that can be done, but I really just wanted to share what me and the girls were working on this season. I am hopeful to instill the gift of giving this season and now just the excitement of presents. I know the girls have loved the BINGO so far, the beautiful thing is that this could be updated for your older kiddos as well or just for you and your loved one. I hope you all have a great December season!
