Ever wondered how much impact your home has on your mood, productivity, feelings. Let me tell you some fun facts! Fortunately this was covered in my one of courses through my Interior Design Degree and I truly found it so fascinating.
Natural Light
Homes with plenty of natural light can increase serotonin levels which makes you feel happier. Exposure to natural light helps to regulate your circadian rhythm which allows you to sleep better, perform better physically and reduce eye strain.
Reduce Clutter - Reduce Stress
The most clutter your home has the higher your cortisol levels are which is your stress hormone. Having a tider environment makes you feel more in control and focus better.
Do you ever feel like you cant start your homework until you clean your room? This is why!
The colour you pick in the house matters, all different colours can evoke different feelings.
Examples: Blue is calming, Yellow is uplifting and energizing, Red can raise stress levels
Always add plants. Plants can improve air quality and mood. They reduce anxiety and improve mood when placed around your home
Warm Lighting for the evenings promotes calmness and relaxation - this will help to set you up for success bedtimes.
Personal touches like photos, trinkets and items promote happy hormones by triggering memories and scents.
All the these contribute to you a home that will reduce stress and anxiety of our busy day to day lives Improve sleep and focus, that let our day be more productive and lead us to feel better, for longer during out days without the afternoon lulls. Our home can be the catalyst to Boost creativity and happiness, the more you make it special the more it is yours. Finally, the above will make you feel safe, productive, and more you, which is the most important part.
